Setting personal goals is essential to everyone who wants to practice personal self-improvement. Personal goal setting is also a powerful way to harness your inner power to accomplish great things for yourself.

1. Take stock.
Where are you right now? What do you want? Define your goal(s) specifically. Don't beat around the bush or build long, drawn-out ideas of grandeur. State your goals, plain and simple. How far are your ultimate goals from where you are now? Take a really good look at yourself and be honest about who you are, where you are, what you want, and how you can get there.
2. Define your wants and needs.
Clearly define your heart's desires. What do you truly want? What values are most important to you? When you can define your wants and needs, you will have a clear vision of the desired end result. When you can clearly see in your mind's eye what you are working towards, giving up will not be any option.
3. Plan your road trip.
Now that you know what your goals are, how will you reach them? What will you do to get to the finish line? Perhaps you will have to make certain sacrifices. Maybe you will need to put in more time to reach your goal than you thought it would take. Create a solid, sound plan that you can use as a map on your road trip to accomplishing your goals.
4. Set out for your destination.
You've taken stock of where you are in this very moment. Next, you defined your heart's desire and got real with yourself. Afterward, you created a plan of action to follow to reach your goals and dreams. Now it's time to step into that action. Get busy, one step at a time.
